Hannah's first triathlon

In November, after being persuaded by several friends, Hannah signed up for a couple of triathlons. The training really began after Christmas, with bike rides, runs and swimming in the sea after work. Hannah signed up with six friends, which made the training more fun and we all enjoyed a wonderful pasta party at Laura's house the night before.

After months of dry and sunny weather, Hannah woke to rain and winds on the morning of her first triathlon. This made setting up the bikes and getting everything ready in the transition zone a little more difficult.

Wet before the swim!

The winds made the water really choppy, so none of the training could really have prepared us for the waves washing us up on to shore.

The gun goes...

That is actually Hannah in between the waves!

End of the run and about the cross the line!

With our medals and lots of water

We made it!!

Thanks must go to Ben (Laura's fiance) for pumping up the tyres on all seven bikes (and fixing any other bike-related problems) and taking all of these photos!

After a few days recovering, Hannah is now back to the training, with a second triathlon planned for April. Gareth has also signed up for a triathlon....only 2 weeks to go!
