Running, getting ready and trip to the zoo

With just 2 weeks' notice, Gareth got a place in Auckland's half marathon. The alarm was set for 4am to get to the start line in time. A hot morning, but copious amounts of bananas and water at the finish line!

But road running isn't really Gareth's passion, so it wasn't long until he hit the off-road trails again....returning very muddy indeed!

In preparation for our February arrival, we received some very cute little Italian socks in the post and have started setting up a nursery. Lots of long walks on the beach are the order for the coming summer too, especially as the beautiful pohutukawa tree is starting to come out.

On Saturday afternoon, we took Ruby and Leah with Sarah and Mike to the zoo and gave Mum and Dad an afternoon "off". Lots of roaring lions, pretending to be flamingos on one leg, noisy monkey impressions and "we're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo, how about you, you, you...." made for a fun time for all!
