The Pinnacles

We had an early start on Saturday morning to head over to the Coromandel and start the walk up to the Pinnacles. This has been one of the walks that we have wanted to do for a long time, so we eventually got the diaries out and booked into the hut with Laura and Ben. The walk has lots of interesting things to see en route and amazing views across the Coromandel.

One of many swing bridge to cross

On the way up

Extreme climbing by Gareth and Ben

Climbing ladders to the top

Views from the top

Laura and Ben had already done this walk, so knew about the BBQ in the hut. So, we brought along steaks, sausages, kumara and a box of wine.

We also enjoyed toasting marshmallows in cookies....yummy and gooey!

A cold, but sunny start to Sunday morning

We passed old kauri trees, dams and machinery left from the logging days, along with rusting train tracks.

Taking our boots off at the end and ready for a late lunch in Thames.

A great walk that I am sure we will be doing again very soon!
