Cumbrian visitors & birthday celebrations

Alan and Norma arrived in Auckland last Friday evening to a weekend of sunshine. After breakfast in the garden on Saturday morning, we decided to take the boat over to Rangitoto and climb to the top of the volcano for views back to the city.

Due to the volcanic dust, our feet turned black during the walk and we decided we needed to give them a wash before heading to a bar in the Viaduct harbour!

Gareth celebrated his 29th birthday on Tuesday. To celebrate, we went to a tapas bar in the evening, which had a live jazz band playing. The food was yummy and it was lovely to spend the evening with Alan and Norma.

We headed home for some birthday cake (topped with strawberries from the garden!), and to bid farewell to Alan and Norma as they start their journey back to the UK (via Hawaii and San Francisco!).
