Heather arrive last week with a head full of yummy asian recipes following her travels and we have been treated ever since. We spent the first weeked in the Coromandel and had beautiful summy weather. The pohutukawa (New Zealand Christmas tree) festival celebrates the beautiful red flowers that bloom at this time of year. We enjoyed a blues on the beach session, which was great!

Our drive in the afternoon took us over the Coromandel mountain range, where we had beautiful clear views.

We stayed the evening at Black Jack's backpackers (Alice, Nik and Dad, you'll remember this place!) and had our first swim of the summer. Pretty refreshing, but excellent to know that summer is on its way....just a pity we didn't have the body board with us to get on a few of those waves!

On Sunday, we headed towards Cathedral Cove, stopping off at a Farmers market on our way. We bought some lettuce and strawberry plants for the garden, which spent the rest of the day in the chilly bin before being planted!
At Cathedral Cove, we spent the afternoon sunbathing, swimming and walking through the beautiful ferns of the forest. Can't wait to go back here!
It is great having Heather here with us and catching up properly. Hannah has been enjoying shopping, gardening, knitting, weaving and foot spa sessions. I'm sure there will be many more to come in the next week too!
