Elephant Experience at Auckland Zoo

Hannah's Christmas present from Gareth was an 'Elephant Experience' at Auckland Zoo. After a busy summer, Hannah decided to leave this gift for an autumn sunday. The experience involved a backstage tour and an up-close bathtime scrub down with the huge animals. A highlight was washing behind the ears, which were very heavy!!

After their full bodywash, Hannah was allowed inside the enclosure while the elephants swam and went about their daily activities. It was amazing to learn about these graceful creatures and to be so close...what a fantastic present!

New line of work....zoo keeper??!!

We spent the afternoon visiting some of the other residents in Auckland Zoo (although the elephants will always be our favourite now!)

Although we haven't updated the blog for a while, we have been enjoying our weekends in Auckland. We spent some time with Anna, Owen and Ruby and even had an evening babysitting, which went surprising well (especially as we had to have training in bottle making and nappy changing!).

We also spent a day with our bikes in the Hunua Ranges just south of Auckland.
