Red or White?

This was the very welcoming greeting we received last Friday night as we arrived at Rosemary and Stan's. After a busy week and a long drive north we arrived to a fantastic supper of smoked marlin (caught the week before) and lots of wine...what a way to start the weekend! The next morning, after eating yummy white bait fritters on the deck, we were shown how to get rid of any food waste....over the edge!

And Stan has an awesome right arm!

Needless to say, our hosts were experts with the raquet!

We spent Saturday morning in the local kauri forest admiring the huge size these fathers of the forest. Obviously, there were ferns to hide behind and lots of tree hugging too!

In the afternoon, we decided to head to the beach. Unfortunately, this may be our last dip of the summer as the water was pretty chilly! We are still hoping that a few more warm currents will come up though.

Last dip?

And to finish off a perfect day, a G&T in the sunshine!

On Sunday, we visited the Kerkeri Country Fair and Farmer's market...fantastic stalls of jewellery, clothing, arts, crafts and yummy food.

Yum, that was good...

We stayed for Sunday roast at the local Gamefish Club, which was fantastic, then drove back to Auckland in the dark with full tummys! A fantastic, relaxing weekend with our New Zealand family - thank you!

Almost forgot....I am sure some of you will be interested to see how my big marrow came along!

How big....!!
