New Kiwi's

Our 30 hour flight flew reasonably quickly, the decent entertainment system serving up enough films and Simpsons episodes to keep us entertained. Air New Zealand were great and we were lucky enough to get emergency exit row seats so we could stretch our legs out a little. Our 2 hour transit in Los Angeles was perhaps the only frustration, queuing up to have our fingerprints and photos taken, before spending only an hour confined to a tiny little transit lounge. US paranoia at its worst.

It felt strange going into the New Zealand Passport Holders/Residents queue at the airport, and then walking around the streets of Auckland reminding ourselves that this was now our home. Our apartment is great, right at the foot of the Skytower, and fully furnished. We have enough pots, pans and crockery to keep us ticking along for the meantime. Our container is due to arrive on 2nd April, delivering our other possessions just after we move into our new place.

The weather here is cloudy and mild, but hoping we get a chance to head to the beach before Autumn arrives. Got an appointment with the bank manager in an hour, so dressing up smart to create a good first impression. Car and house hunting start in earnest tomorrow. Jet lag slowly fading away. More news and photos to follow.
